Being Himself

Here's a nice little article from the St. Petersburg Times:

BEING HIMSELF: Maddon praised his pitching staff, including RHP Scott Dohmann, a reliever candidate who had a rough start this spring.
Dohmann gave up Cleveland's only hit in Tampa Bay's 7-0 win, but he struck out two in 12/3 innings. The 29-year-old said the biggest change he has made is relaxing, "just letting it rip."
Earlier in camp, Dohmann said he focused too much on mechanical tweaks such as shortening his stride; it "got me too mental; I wasn't showing my personality."
Tuesday "was a step in the right direction," Dohmann said. "I'd rather start off slow in the spring than finish slow."

We're back

I haven't been on because I have been pretty busy......
Scott is back on track after throwing 1.2 innings today. He gave up one hit, no runs, no walks, and 2 strikeouts!

Looks like the DRays have thrown together a few wins in the last few games. I hope they keep it up for the regular season.

First Outing

Yea, I know it's just Grapfruit ball... but I gotta post something soon or I will go out of my mind.
The DRays lost to the Yanks 3-1.

Scott threw 1 inning: 0 Hits, 0 Runs, 1 K, 2 BB's.

Those ugly walks! I bet they'll be gone by opening day.

Looking Good So Far

Here is a clip from the St. Petersburg Times:

PITCHING IN: Maddon was pleased with just about all the pitchers, mentioning RHPs Shawn Camp, Edwin Jackson, Scott Dohmann "I liked a lot of the things he did" and prospect Mitch Talbot ("He has a big list of strengths and I saw them all"). He also noted that LHP Chris Seddon has followed instructions to pitch more inside since he hit SS Reid Brignac on the elbow and was impressed with RHPs Tony Peguero and Juan Salas, who faced hitters for the first time after reporting late.

That Time of Year Again

I post the same thing every year: Scott has departed today, he's off to start the new season with the Devil Rays. Seems like only a few days ago we were blowing the rooftops off of houses during our New Year's celebration. His time is so short when he's home, it is tough to fit everything in!

In any case, we wish him luck at his new home. We'll catch as many games as we can.

It's Official

Scott has signed with the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. Time to get accustomed to the new guys, learning names and positions.
I can't wait for opening day......

Here's a nice place to keep up with the Devil Rays news.

Waiting Game

Scott is listed as Non-Tendered, I believe it means he is still under contract with the Royals, but is being shopped around the league.
I'll post as soon as I know more.

Season Ending

Well, it's been a bumpy ride for Scott this last part of the season. Hopefully he can start fresh with his new team next year, now that he has had a few months to get adjusted to the Royals.

He's back home now, and he surrounded by his family and friends...
There's plenty of hunting, golf and barbecues in the offseason to keep him busy. I'll update during the offseason as things happen.

Oops

Sorry, I'm behind on my updates... been hectic here.

The Royals seem to rollercoaster by the week, beating the top teams in the league, then losing by a few runs to lesser teams.
Such is baseball I guess.....

I'm sure Scott will have his ERA down considerably by the end of the season..

Update

Scott threw another scoreless inning Tuesday night.
Short post, but to the point.

Bounce Back

In spite of the losing effort to the Red Sox, Scott came back on Sunday and threw 1.1 scoreless innings with 2 strikeouts.

Boston Baked Beans

Scott threw a solid seventh inning tonight against the Red Sox. No hits, 1 strikeout (Big Papi).
The second inning was not as smooth, as he gave up a homerun to Varitek. It wasn't a bad pitch, either....
I can't figure it out.
He's not making bad pitches, but still prone to the long ball.
His slider was looking really good though. Ah well, keep trudging on.

What A Ripoff

Scott faced one batter, and walked him... then ended up with the loss?
His run would have tied the score, but why the loss?

Hmm. Perhaps I missed something.

*EDIT* The Royals were up by 2 when Scott's walk loaded the bases. So Scott's runner ended up being the run that put the Yankees up.
