Update
I am unable to watch any of the games, and stats are tough to come by during spring training. However, Scott is battling his way to opening day form. A few rough spots, but he is constantly working out the bugs.

Meet the Rockies
Dan has a nice "meet the team" theme going, complete with inside stats and predictions. Give him a look!

Phooey
So close on his last inning pitched, Scott had one strikeout and two fly-outs. Unfortunately, there was a homerun in the mix there also. Again, this is what preseason is for!
By opening day, all of the bugs will be worked out.

Slight Stumble
Scott threw one inning yesterday against Kansas City. One inning, 3 hits, 2 runs, one strikeout.
That is what pre-season is for, right?
I'll try and get more details to post.

Preseason Starts!
Scott threw his first inning of the season Thursday against the White Sox. No hits, one walk, no runs....... starting off on the right foot so far. If anyone has more details on the game, feel free to email them. Thanks!

Blah
According to this article, the Rockies aren't predicted to do well in final numbers for the season. I think it's junk... who the hell comes up with those numbers anyway??

Um.. Poll Blew Up
The poll I had up earlier mysteriously vanished.... but the answer was Boudreaux's Butt Paste.
I'll try and get a poll that will stick around for longer than a few days!

A little respect and optimism. This article is courtesy of the Rockies website.

Fare Thee Well, Brother
Brother-in-law, actually. But it doesn't make it any easier to know that he will be gone for the next 8-9 months. When you think of professional ballplayers, it's easy to forget the fact that most of them are on the road for the better part of the year. Not all of them are able to take their families with them. 'Just another day at the office' means being in another city or state. Fortunately, Tara and Gavin will be in Denver. It's really tough to send my sister and nephew off, also. Ah well. Such is the life. We'll miss them until they return. In the meantime, we have email and phone calls to keep in touch.
The flip side to this coin is that it signals the start of the greatest sport around: Baseball. Soon the smell of freshly cut grass will replace the smell of the fireplace in the air. Hot dogs, beer, pretzels and the roar of the crowd!
That was my little take on the ups and downs of the new season, but I welcome it with open arms.
PLAY BALL!!

This Internet Thingy
Thanks to BASEBALL WITH AN ALTITUDE and Mark Donohue's BAD ALTITUDE, our little blog here has travelled far and wide, to bring good tidings and cheer. Or just a lot of stuff about Scott.
That'll work. Thanks for the linkage, guys.

Giving Something Back
Scott participated in a banquet here in Lafayette this past week. It's a fund raiser put on by the Lafayette Parish Housing Authority. Phil Devey participated also.

This Season Can't Start Soon Enough

Here is just one of many articles with outlooks and guesses for the Rox lineup this season. As much as I hate to see Scott, Tara and Gavin go..... I cannot wait for Scott to make his mark.
I'm tired of seeing his name in the tail end of everyone's lineup. He had a rough start last year, yes. Just follow his stats through the season, after his comeback from AAA ball. He finished up as strong or stronger than most relievers in the club. Give him some respect!
Selfish, yes... a little. But now that football is ending (for my fantasy team, its over), and I can't stand to watch basketball... I need my yearly dose of baseball. I know I am not alone here. As long as I can squeeze another round of golf in with Scott before he leaves.........

Mesa Boogie
Ok, ok... it's been a while. But it is the offseason, and it is nice to spend time with Scott and the family without reporting everything that happens.
There is a pretty big update today, though. It appears the veteran reliever, Jose Mesa, has signed a one year contract with the Rox. I've been a fan of Mesa's since his days with the Phillies. Here is the article: http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/article.jsp?ymd=20051208&content_id=1279805&vkey=hotstove2005&fext=.jsp

A Day On The Links

Today I got to play golf with Scott and Devey. Devey is a buddy of Scott's from college, and he also has represented Canada in the Olympics. He also put a spankin' on both of us. I think the picture pretty much sums it up. No need to post scores (this time).

Offseason Updates
Over at Dan Lucero's place, he is wrapping up the Rockies' season in 3 parts. Here is what he had to say about Scott:
HIGHLIGHT: 8/8, v FLA – 2 IP (W), 0 R, 1 H, 1 BB, 0 K
LOWLIGHT: 4/9, @ SF – 0.1 IP (L), 3 R, 2 H, 1 BB, 0 K
WHAT I SAID: “Stuff-wise, he’s got enough to pick up a few saves this season.”
WHAT I MEANT: “Stuff-wise, he’s got enough to pick up a few hotel tabs in PCL cities everywhere this season while he gets it together.”
A horrific start in which Scott gave up game-losing home runs on back-to-back days in San Francisco saw him demoted to Colorado Springs for the better part of the season. From late April to early August, Scott toiled, punching out batters left and right while learning how to keep the ball in the park. Once he came back in August, it was as the effective reliever we expected at the start of the year. Dohmann posted a 2.59 ERA in 23 appearances over the last two months of the season and showed the ability to rebound from adversity. Get used to this hard throwing Cajun, because I think he’ll be around awhile.
IN 2006, SCOTT WILL… be an integral part of the Rockies bullpen.

End of the Season Blues
I hate to see it end.... I love baseball.
However, it has to end so that new changes can take place. Hopefully Scott will have cemented a place in the Rockies organization. I'd like to see him play a full year next year without visiting AAA.
I would also like to see him throw tonight and get below the 6.00 mark for his ERA.
I also look forward to him coming home, will be good to see him. Perhaps I can get a round of golf in with him.
I will keep posting on here throughout the off-season.
